As far as video games are concerned, the over-sexualization of women has become a heated debate. Some say that the female league champions' perfect bodies are in some way demeaning to women playing the LOL game, and therefore there is the need for the developers to shift some of these characters.

Well, what do you think? Do you believe that this critique is in any way justifiable? Do you think that anything needs to change? Let’s dive right in.

Manly Junglers and Motherly Support

Numbers don’t lie, right? Let’s look at the numbers. Out of the 94 released champions, only 30 are female – that’s about one in every three. How about the positions reserved for female and male champions?

First and foremost, support roles. A support champion's main task is to protect the teammates such as the AD carry in every way possible. They create visibility and protection through shielding teammates every time they are attacked, using wards, giving them mana, health, buffs, etc.

This kind of support makes them act as the ‘mother’ of the team and hence the number of female support champions in LOL. For instance, Sona, Karma, Janna, Soraka support Lulu. It is excellent to have Taric and Alistar giving this supporting role a special manly touch. For example, Alistar bullies botlane.

Typically, male champions such as Nocturne, Skarner, Lee Sin, or Warwick often visit a dark and dangerous jungle. If you look at the list more closely, you will realize that only a few female league champions are viable junglers. One example is Shyvana and ends up getting assistance from Riven and Sejuani.

With that said, however, there are a couple of powerful females in the top lane. Irelia and Shyvana are ladies that you can’t afford to mess up with, and Fiora duels her way to dominance. It is a good thing that there are female league champions in the AD and AP positions – it is evident that carriers have a significant influence in the LOL game.

Busty Babes

As highlighted earlier, one critique when it comes to the champion design is that women have been portrayed to be flawless (perfect) and sexy in every way – this over-sexualization demeans women playing the game. Well, there are some talking points regarding the imagery of the male and female champions of the LOL.

One of the most popular opinions is that most women in the league appear to have a quasi-perfect body sculpted in the Los Angeles surgery clinic. From curvaceous butts and double-D breasts to immaculately toned stomachs that are barely covered by their attires, it has brought a lot of controversies.

Do you think the developer should make any changes as far as female league champions are concerned?
